Peter Bjorn And John have released what I consider to be the perfect hipster indie pop album. Lots of instruments, atonal vocals, garage band fidelity, European settings, and youthful social discord. Hipsters of the world, unite, the perfect pop music to compliment your tight jeans, striped sweaters, ripped shoes, and swooping haircuts.

...but it does like Mobius Band. Their debut, The Loving Sounds of Static, features a few choice cuts of indie synth pop. The title cut, today's song, is tops, while it's follow on, Philadelphia, is a strong second. They're a potent 1-2 combo and really seal off a promising debut.
We Are Scientists put out one of the best indie rock albums of 2006. Track four from With Love And Squalor is Can't Lose—it features an amazing guitar line chorus and enough angsty anxiety to fuel a medium-sized city for 12-to-14 hours. It's a great song for days where things have just gone wrong...
The new album from Damien Rice is a little edigier than his debut O, but it still retains his trademark layering and crooning. The opening track, 9 Crimes, really shows off that whole formula and does it well.
Oh, and Damien uses some not-nice words throughout the whole album. Doesn't bother me, but it might hurt his radio prospects. Not that anyone listens to radio anymore. 'Cause radio sucks. But I'm just saying. Gonna suck to bleep out parts of these songs.

This is a great song by a guy named Stuart Davis. Do you know what I know about Stuart Davis? Jack shit. I should probably know more. I should probably listen to his album. I should, but first, I'm going to listen to this song. Again.

I have officially found the worst song of 2006. I'd post it here for you to listen to, but I don't want to pay the 99¢ for the song to give record companies and the artist the allusion that I'm supporting them with this one.
